Meet the Team

Lori Spooner – Crop Insurance Agent

Licensed since 2013

I have been in the insurance field since 2013.  I retired from the Farm Service Agency, in Crosby, ND on July 31, 2013 with 31 1/2 years of service and started working for Brad Johnson Insurance in August of 2013.  My husband, Mark, is retired from the county and we live on the family farm.  We have two sons: William, 36, and Adam, 33 and a foster daughter, DJ (Danelle) Woehl-Tschida, 36.  I have always loved farming and working with farmers, so working with crop insurance is second nature to me. When I’m not at work, I love to scrapbook, plant flowers, and make treats for the youth in Divide County. We love to attend all ages of hockey games, football, basketball and volleyball.  One of my favorite holidays is Valentine’s Day, for which I make chocolate covered Oreos for every child involved in sports at that time of the year. Last year, I made over 500 of them, 20 an hour. They loved them and can’t wait for next year.

Denise Johnson – Office Manager

Licensed Agent since 1991
ACSR since 1998; CPIA since 2015

Since Brad and I bought the agency in 1986, I have been continually challenged and rewarded. The insurance business is forever changing and I love the responsibility of helping our neighbors with their insurance needs. I enjoy living in a rural community and being involved in community activities. When not working, I like to garden, sew, and spend time outdoors.  I am blessed to have 7 grandchildren (Elydie, Pax, Aylin, DeAnn, Leo, Luna and Leilani), and enjoy spending time with them.

Dawn Nygaard – Agent

Licensed since 2007

I am originally from Ely, a small city about 70 miles north of London, England. In 2005 we moved to Crosby, ND, my husband’s home town, and I started working for Brad Johnson Insurance in 2007. We have three children and one very old, neurotic Dalmatian. I am a member of the local theatre group and have acted in the last five productions.

Brad Johnson – Owner

Licensed Agent since 1979; Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC); Agent of the Year awarded in 2008; President of ND PIA

After teaching and coaching for five years, I entered the insurance profession in 1979. My wife, Denise, and I purchased an agency from a retiring agent (Ken and Edith Engberg) in 1986. We’ve grown the agency gradually and now have five full-time agents. We have four children, Rodney, Annalise, Loren, and JoBeth and seven grandchildren. Away from the office I like to read, garden and do household and yard projects and spend time at our lake cabin on Little Knife Bay on Lake Sakakawea. My other great passions are participating in the Northwest Chorus and enjoying morning basketball during the winter.

Loren Johnson – Agent

Licensed since 2017

I became a Brad Johnson Insurance team member in 2017. I graduated from Minot State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After spending nearly a decade in the ceramics industry, I decided to make a career change and made the move back to my home town to raise a family in a smaller community. My wife, Tia, is a stay at home mother to our daughter, Luna, with another on the way. I have spent my free time making pottery, home brewing, and spending time with my family at the beach. We currently are getting to know the town again and look forward to contributing to the community.
